| Pregnancy tests measure
a hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadotrppin or hCG. hCG is produced
by Placental tissue. This begins as soon as the developing embryo
has attached itself to the uterine wall. (It is actually first made
by the stage of embryo development called the blastocyst.) This same
hormone is what is measeured both by the home urine pregnancy tests and
the laboratory pregnancy tests. |

Various Home Pregnancy
Tests have different ways of showing positive (you're pregnant) and negative
(you're NOT pregnant) results. If you are PREGNANT, call your health
care provider to make an appointment for your first Prenatal Visit.
Many couples wait until after their first visit to spread the joyous news
to everyone. Some even wait until after the First 12 weeks (First
Trimester) have passed before telling anyone. |
