Lice Infestation
WHAT IS IT?:
An infestation with a crab louse
CAUSE:

Phthirus pubis
TRANSMISSION
Sexual contact; other intimate contact; also can be spread through sheets and clothing.
SYMPTOMS:
FIRST APPEARANCE: Eggs (nits) hatch in 5-10 days. The crabs mature in 6-9 days and begin laying new eggs.
WOMEN - Visible nits and lice, itching in the genital area.
MEN - Visible nits and lice, itching in the genital area.
TESTS:
Visual examination
TREATMENT:
Application of lindane shampoo or cream applied to pubic area, stomach fold and all areas of skin from knees to waist.  Re-apply again in several days.  Discarding bedding and clothing recommended.  TREATMENT OF PARTNER IS ESSENTIAL

Yes
LIFE TIME EFFECTS FOR YOU:
None
COMMENTS:
Secondary skin infections can develop from scratching the skin.  This is more common than believed.  Good hygiene can also eliminate the problem.
