Instructions for Depo-Provera Injections

You can begin receiving Contraceptive Injections: within a week of a period immediately after an abortion immediately after delivery if not breastfeeding 6 weeks after delivery if breastfeeding 6 months after delivery if using lactation-amenorrhea method of birth control RETURN TO YOUR CAREGIVER EVERY 12 WEEKS TO RECEIVE ANOTHER INJECTION.

Be sure that you do not want to be pregnant for at least 12-18 months before choosing this method.
