Cervical Cap Instructions
Placement:

You can insert the cap several hours before intercourse.
  • Fill the cap approximately 1/3 full of spermicide.
  • In a comfortable position (one foot on the toilet or a chair, sitting on the edge of the toilet ot chair, lying in bed, or squatting down), locate your cervix an separate the labia with one hand.
  • Insert the cap into the vagina, onto the cervix.  Pinch the rim and twist the cap - like a jar lid.
  • Run your finger around the rime to make sure the cervix is covered completely and the cap is securely placed
Removal:
  • Using a finger at the rim of the cap, pull down to break the suction.
  • Once the suction is broken, pull the cap out.
You DO NOT have to add more spermicide with each act of intercourse.  The cap MUST stay in place at least 8 hours after the last sex act.  It can stay in place up to 48 hours, but NO LONGER.
Care of your Cap:
After each use, wash the cap with mild soap and warm water. Clean the groove inside the rim with a cotton swab. Dry the cap and, if you wish, dust it lightly with cornstarch before storing it in its case.
For disposable caps, follow each manufacturer's instructions.
