As a
doctor, writer and teacher, MJ Bovo believes that instead of being
victims,
we have the power within to be victors. We need to take responsibility
for the here and now, instead of blaming others. Responsibility is a
necessary
ingredient of health and happiness. We make our life what we choose. In
her private Manhattan practice, she treats the whole person. This
positive
approach to life is also reflected in her writing.
The
Family Pregnancy: A Revolutionary Twelve Month Holistic and Medical
Guide to Maternity,
Dr. Bovo's first book, began gestating while her own daughter was
pregnant.
At the urging of her patients and daughter, she wrote an innovative
book
which answers the questions people have, but also teaches Moms and Dads
how to get in touch with their unborn child. In keeping with her
philosophy,
she feels that if parents bond with their unborn child, there is less
likelihood
of family abuse. The Second Edition is due in December, to be packaged
with On the
Road
to Motherhood, a Personal Pregnancy Journal for the
Mom-to-be.
Her newest pregnancy book, Do
You Have Any Question: A Woman Doctor Answers the 100 Most Asked
Qustions
About Pregnacy, is in bookstores, or available from
Newport
Books.
To extend
her avenues of disseminating information, she began writing fiction. From
the Ashes shows the survival of childhood incest, a still taboo
subject, and the impact on the lives it touches. Taking
Chances deals with the choices we make as adults as a result
of
childhood emotional abuse and reveals how one can overcome this to
establish
self-empowerment. She believes people need to learn from each other.
Her
novels reveal how relationships between men and women can flourish
instead
of flounder. Women see others in the same, all too common, situations.
Men see what they can do to strengthen their own relationships. In
1997,
she extends her reach for overcoming abuse with a hard-hitting,
non-fiction
book, Breaking
the
Chains that Bind: How to STOP Being a Victim and Become a New YOU.
Previews
of her newest book, A Child
Betrayed, can be seen and ordered on it's own web site.
